Biographical history
The Little York Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, York, Prince Edward Island, was opened and dedicated in1824, forming part of the Charlottetown-Little York circuit under the ministry of Rev. William Burt. The original chapel was replaced in 1850. By 1857 the circuit was so enlarged that it was divided into two separate circuits, one for Charlottetown and one for Cornwall and Little York. The latter circuit was divided yet again in 1876. Little York circuit comprised the communities of York, Pleasant Grove, Brackley, Covehead and Stanhope. With the coming of church union in 1925, the Little York Wesleyan Methodist Church became the York United Church.
