Administrative history

The Cascumpeque and Fortune Cove Telephone Company was established on 10 March 1910. This privately owned telephone company began with eighteen shareholders. Custodial history

Scope and content

The fonds consists of ledgers from 1932-1954, which document the line expenses, financial reports, minutes of annual and director's meetings, line tax and a list of long distance calls made by telephone owners within the communities of Cascumpeque and Fortune Cove. The minutes and by-laws of the initial meeting in 1910, minutes of shareholder meetings (1911-1928), a list of receipts for expenses (1910-1931), telephone statistics submitted to the Minister of Railways and Canals (1915-1923), and correspondence from R.H. Rayner to the PEI government and the PEI Telephone Company Ltd. (1910-1923) are also included in the fonds. Four boxes of miscellaneous records including toll service statements, receipts, and invoices (1947-1955) also provide information concerning the Cascumpeque and Fortune Cove Telephone Company.
