History

The Southport Women's Institute was organized in Southport, Prince Edward Island, in December of 1942 with the first regular meeting held in the home of Mrs. John MacKay on the 16th of that month. Over the years the Institute has been closely involved in community affairs and prepared and published a book on the history of the area as well as organizing many social events for the Institute.
