Custodial history
Scope and content
The fonds contains the working files (Register of Documents) for 53 projects relative to bridges, causeways, and water control structures in Prince Edward Island constructed in the period 1951 to 1994. These range from the larger Hillsborough Bridge and the proposed Northumberland Strait causeway to much smaller projects such as Scales and North Tryon culverts and proposed guard railings for bridges in PEI. The firm also undertook inspection and evaluation reports as well as water quality and structural capacity studies. The cataloguing and numbering system of the donor has been maintained with projects arranged consecutively by year. Information in the working files may include correspondence, specifications, design briefs, calculations, engineers' diaries, drawings, photographs, reports, invoices. For 34 of the projects there are related plans (Catalogue of Drawings) also arranged in numerical order to correspond with the working files. These may include location plans, general plans, abutments and slabs, cross sections of approach fill, lighting and apron slabs, bar lists, hydraulics, structural steel details, etc.
