Nombreuses sont les connaissances acquises de David Le Gallant. Un individu passionné d'histoire acadienne, de l'opéra, de voyage, d'auto-stop, de la natation et d'équitation, il fait l'expérience de la « joie de vivre » dans ses voyages, ses études tels qu'aux expositions universelles, aux Jeux Olympiques et divers autres événements. David Alyre Le Gallant is a native of Saint-Raphael, parish of Mont-Carmel, Prince Edward Island, the eldest son of Alyre and Elva Le Gallant. He received his B.A. from the University of Ottawa and went on to study at the University of Nice on a France-Acadie scholarship for studies in modern literature and was awarded the Prix Groupe Sorbonne for his essay "La passion du voyage d'un Acadien errant". He has researched and written extensively on the Acadians of Prince Edward Island and on his home parish in particular. He has also been closely involved in the life of the community including the development of the reconstructed historical village of the Acadian pioneers, known as "Le Village" set on the site of the of the first settlement of the parish of Mont-Carmel, Prince Edward Island, originally named Grand-Ruisseau by the pioneers. He was also a member of the Tignish Bicentennial Committee.
