Entertainment lineup for Victoria Day celebrations announced

Islanders are invited to celebrate Victoria Day and the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference that paved the way to Canadian Confederation with The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, said Premier Robert Ghiz.

On the evening of May 19, Islanders will welcome Their Royal Highnesses to Prince Edward Island during outdoor festivities at Province House.

“All eyes will be on Prince Edward Island as Their Royal Highnesses arrive in Charlottetown,” said Premier Ghiz. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for Islanders to come together, enjoy an evening of Island talent and welcome our special guests during this celebratory year.”

Entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m. on the grounds at Province House. There will be face painting, balloon twisting and other family activities. Enjoy hot dogs and ice cream and even meet the Fathers of Confederation. At approximately 8:30 p.m., Their Royal Highnesses will arrive to take in some great Island entertainment.

Multicultural, theatrical, musical entertainment will fill the stage throughout the evening showcasing Prince Edward Island’s vibrant culture and finest talent, including:

• Tim Chaisson

• Catherine MacLellan

• Patrick Ledwell

• Wade Lynch as “the Queen”

• Paper Lions

• The Meds

As the night draws to a close, Islanders will enjoy fireworks over the Charlottetown Harbour with the Royal Couple at 9 p.m.
