Come Dine With Me Canada visits Prince Edward Island

Tourism and Culture

The hit television show Come Dine With Me Canada will air five episodes taped on Prince Edward Island on Monday night that will highlight the province as a top tourism and culinary destination, says Minister of Tourism and Culture Robert Henderson.

“By contracting Come Dine With Me Canada to visit Prince Edward Island we seized an opportunity to feature not only the beauty of the Island itself, but also the fine people and the delicious seafood, meat and produce available here,” said Minister Henderson. “It also accelerates brand awareness and reinforces our efforts to integrate marketing and broadcast television the same way we did with Regis and Kelly and the Bachelor, albeit on a smaller scale.”

The province provided $30,000 to assist with production costs while the Come Dine With Me Canada Team was on the Island. It also purchased $35,000 worth of advertising on the W Network to supplement the marketing effort.

The show sees a number of contestants pitted against one another to see who can prepare the best meal. Scores are based not only on the quality and presentation of the food, but also on things like hosting ability and atmosphere.

“I have no doubt that the individuals chosen to appear on the show will do a tremendous job showcasing the excellent food available on the Island, and demonstrating our world renowned hospitality,” said Minister Henderson. “I look forward to seeing each contestant duke it out for the Come Dine With Me title on Prince Edward Island.”

The five episodes will air back to back on the W Network starting at 8:30 p.m. Atlantic time on Monday, February 25. The same episodes will air again on Sunday, March 3 at 2:30 p.m.
