Junior Achievement of PEI announced today that Innovation PEI has contributed $25,000 to support the delivery of their 2011-2012 programs.

Junior Achievement (JA) offers a suite of programs that helps youth stay in school and to enroll in post-secondary education, encourages new business through entrepreneurship and provides today’s youth with the valuable skills they will need to participate and succeed in a global economy. Approximately 4, 500 students from Grades 3 to Grade 12 in communities across the province have the opportunity to participate in our unique programs each year.

“We are very pleased to partner with Junior Achievement, said Allen Roach, Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning. “Our investment in Junior Achievement is expected to produce better prepared and more successful young people, whose potential and abilities will ultimately be revealed as Canada’s next generation of leaders. Entrepreneurship is one of Canada’s greatest strengths. Junior Achievement helps accelerate the growth of young people by providing them with the experience and expertise needed to become successful entrepreneurs.”

Through JA programs such as The Company Program and Building Business Basics, students are able to understand the positive impact that entrepreneurship has on small communities and is helping to develop the core business skills necessary to becoming the successful and creative business leaders of tomorrow.

“It’s exciting to have Innovation PEI continue their commitment to the youth of Prince Edward Island through JAPEI. Innovation PEI is a recognized business leader and their partnership with JAPEI will only enhance our reputation to deliver top notch programming to students across Prince Edward Island. This is the start of what we hope will be a long and successful partnership with Innovation PEI,” said Betty Ferguson, Junior Achievement of PEI’s president and Director of Operations.

Junior Achievement makes a positive impact on today’s youth by putting financial literacy concepts into practice, in a way that connects basic economics to life events and personal aspirations. Our programs allow students to experience and understand business, gain financial responsibility, make confident decisions and become innovators.
