Alternative delivery methods for provincial government mail

Finance and Energy

Due to the labour dispute between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, the Government of Prince Edward Island has established alternative delivery methods for incoming and outgoing provincial government mail, including the provision of social assistance, medical test results, maintenance enforcement and worker's compensation benefits.

Each government department has identified which of its services may be impacted by a work disruption at Canada Post, and has put alternative delivery methods in place so important transactions continue to occur. Access PEI sites, Skills PEI offices and other provincial offices will serve as drop-off and pickup centres for the duration of the labour disruption.

Individuals or businesses with questions about how to send mail to, or receive mail from, the provincial government are invited to visit the government website at www.gov.pe.ca where they will find contact information for the various services that will be impacted. Alternatively, the public may call 1-800-236-5196 to obtain this same information.

In the event of a disruption in mail services, the provincial government will be placing advertisements in newspapers and on radio to inform the public of how to obtain information about alternative delivery methods for specific services.

The provincial government is committed to ensuring as little disruption in service as possible for the duration of the labour disruption.
