PEI’s Streams and Rivers Stocked with Fish
Environment, Energy & Forestry
Minister Brown said he is pleased to be able to support this important outdoor activity.
“Recreational fishing contributes more than $4 million dollars to the PEI economy on a yearly basis,” said Minister Brown. “It’s one of the best ways to enjoy the natural beauty of our province for both residents and visitors.”
A number of ponds in P.E.I. have been recently stocked, including Rollo Bay Pond, Mooney’s Pond, Bristol Pond, Hermitage Creek Pond, Bernard’s Pond in French River, and Carragher’s Pond.
The fish are part of the salmonid enhancement program and were raised at the Dover Fish Hatchery.
Fish stocking supports the local watershed groups and the many community volunteers committed to enhancing fish habitat in our streams and rivers, said Minister Brown.
“Fishing is a popular leisure activity for people of all ages, said Minister Brown. “Fish stocking provides important family and youth recreational opportunities on PEI.”
Funding for the stocking program was provided by the Province and through contributions to the PEI Wildlife Conservation Fund.
