Dover Fish Hatchery Receives Contribution for Fish Stocking
Environment, Energy & Forestry
“The recreational fishery is part of our collective heritage,” said Environment, Energy and Forestry Minister Richard Brown. “Each year thousands of anglers visit local streams and rivers to enjoy this healthy, outdoor family activity. Having clean, good-quality habitat is essential to a healthy recreational fishery.”
Fish stocking will also support local watershed groups and their work to enhance habitat, said the Minister.
“This contribution also supports the watershed groups and the community volunteers across the province who are working to enhance fish habitat and protect water quality,” said Minister Brown.
“We are very pleased to receive this support from government,” said Ken Moyneart, co-owner of Dover Fish Hatchery. “This contribution will help Dover Fish Hatchery produce fish for enhancement purposes and will also support the recreational fishery, youth fishing programs and the many Islanders who enjoy this sport.”
