At an event held earlier this month, Prince County Hospital (PCH) honoured Vanda DesRoches, Clinical Development Nurse for PCH, with the Dr. Tom Moore Award for outstanding service.

The Dr. Tom Moore Award is awarded annually to a Prince County Hospital staff member or physician who clearly displays dedication and achievement in their area of work. The award is intended to honour an individual who makes a positive contribution in the work place and demonstrates a high level of skill in his/her chosen area of practice.

“The leadership and determination Vanda demonstrates everyday as she continues to provide quality health care through enhancements in nursing practice is to be commended,” said Arlene Gallant-Bernard, Executive Director for PCH. “She embodies the very qualities and values from which the spirit of the award was created. I could not think of a more deserving recipient.”

“I’m very proud to share in the celebration to acknowledge Vanda’s accomplishments and commitment to her work,” said Brenda Worth, Director of Nursing for PCH. “Her contributions to our hospital and passion for patient care and patient safety certainly have not gone unnoticed. It is a privilege to be able to work with her on a daily basis.”

The prestigious award was named after its first recipient in 1991, Dr. Tom Moore. As a physician at Prince County Hospital, Dr. Moore was a positive and powerful role model throughout his 30 years at the facility.
