Debt Collection Practices Must Not Violate the Rights and Responsibilities of Consumers

Debt collectors are not permitted to:
• use coercive language to make you pay
• threaten that you'll lose your job if you don't pay
• contact you at your workplace
• abuse or intimidate you to make you pay
• harass you by constantly phoning you
• contact you outside the hours of eight in the morning to nine in the evening or on Sunday
• contact or threaten to contact your employer, friends or relatives, except to get your address
• give false or misleading information about you to any other person
