Popular TV Show Comes to Historic Charlottetown Waterfront

Tourism

Tourism Charlottetown, Tourism PEI, and the City of Charlottetown are excited to announce that the popular “Canadian Antiques Road Show” is coming to the Historic Charlottetown Waterfront June 6, 2007. Charlottetown will be the only stop in the Maritimes on the 2007 Canadian Tour.

“The Province of Prince Edward Island welcomes the popular Canadian Antiques Road Show to the Island,” states Minister Brown, Minister of Tourism. “This opportunity provides Prince Edward Island with an opportunity to showcase both the Island and its heritage to a dedicated Canadian audience.”

A television crew of approximately 70-90 people will arrive in Charlottetown to produce four 30-minute episodes of the “Canadian Antique Road Show” at Confederation Landing Park. The PEI segments of the show will air on CBC as part of the show’s fourth season in the Fall/Winter of 2007/2008.

"The City of Charlottetown is extremely pleased that the "Canadian Antiques Road Show" has selected Charlottetown as a destination to produce one of their shows," said Mayor Lee. "The show will create excitement among antique enthusiasts, while providing a great opportunity to profile the Birthplace of Confederation across the country."

Valerie Pringle will host all four shows introducing viewers to the unique Island items being appraised and highlighting the destination. This coverage will include snapshots of Prince Edward Island and Historic Charlottetown with focus on the destinations’ heritage appeal and significance.

“We are happy to assist the crew with on-the-ground co-ordination,” states Kim Green, CEO of Tourism Charlottetown & the PEI Convention Partnership. “It is yet another event that will attract visitors and residents alike to Charlottetown early in the season and will bring heightened exposure to Charlottetown as a heritage destination.”

There will be approximately 1500-1700 complimentary tickets available on a first-come first-served basis for those interested in having their antiques appraised. Tickets are complimentary and are now available on-line at http://canadianantiquesroadshow.com/2007charlottetown.htm
