Prince Edward Island Volunteer Recognition Awards
Community and Cultural Affairs
Government announced the volunteer recognition award program in the November 2002 Throne Speech as a follow-up to the 2001 International Year of the Volunteer.
“Communities and service organizations across Prince Edward Island were built on the hard work and dedication of volunteers. Everyday, we are supported by women, men, and young people collecting door-to-door, helping others in their community, coaching our family or just being a friend,” said Honourable Elmer MacFadyen, Minister responsible for Volunteers. “The Volunteer Recognition Award was established to recognize individuals who give freely of themselves to benefit all Islanders.”
To date, fourteen talented, caring and giving Islanders have already received this special volunteer award for their volunteer work in over 40 different organizations. Application forms area available at: www.gov.pe.ca/go/volunteer.
Please send applications to: The Volunteer Recognition Award, c/o Community and Cultural Affairs PO Box 2000, Charlottetown, PE C1A 7N5. For information, call 368-4572.
