MACFADYEN Congratulates Special Olympic Medalists

The Honourable Elmer MacFadyen, Minister responsible for Sport and Recreation today congratulated Islanders Rose MacDonald and Michael Morris on medal winner performances at the Special Olympics 2005 World Winter Games in Japan.

“It is my pleasure to offer Rose and Michael congratulations on tremendous performances at the games,” said Minister MacFadyen. “Both of these talented athletes were able to achieve a new personal best time and I join all Islanders in expressing my pride and congratulations.”

Rose MacDonald of Morell captured a gold and a bronze medal in Nordic Skiing. Michael Morris of Stratford, also competing in Cross Country Skiing, earned a silver medal in his division.

“These performances are a testament to the hard work and dedication of these athletes as well as the calibre and commitment of coaches and the Special Olympic organization in Prince Edward Island,” said Minister MacFadyen.

Rose and Michael are expected to return to Prince Edward Island on Sunday, March 6, 2005.
