Island Focus to Honour Remembrance Day

Provincial Treasury

Island Focus has produced a special lineup for this week's program in honour of Remembrance Day and those who died while fighting for peace.

The November 11 broadcast of Island Focus will be hosted from the Confederation Centre Art Gallery where the exhibit Battlelines: Canadian Artists in the Field, 1917-1919 is now on display. Host Gerry Birt will speak with historic art curator, Kevin Rice about the exhibition produced by the Canadian War Museum. Carmen Francis, a grade 12 student of Bluefield, will also relay her experience as a youth delegate to France last spring as part of the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge organized by Veteran Affairs Canada.

The program will also include stories of Prince Edward Island's community military museums in Charlottetown and Kensington and the Veterans Memorial Highway that stretches the length of Highway No. 2. In addition, the role of the provincial government forestry division in ground search and rescue will be explored.

Island Focus is the provincial government's community outreach television program featuring the people, places and programs of Prince Edward Island. Island Focus airs Mondays at 7:30 p.m. with a repeat broadcast at 10:00 p.m. Segments can also be viewed online at www.gov.pe.ca/focus.
