Nominations open for 2015 Environmental Awards

Environment, Labour and Justice

Nominations are now being accepted for this year’s Prince Edward Island Environmental Awards, says Minister of Environment, Labour and Justice and Attorney General Janice Sherry.

“Islanders are very passionate about the environment and take great pride in the work they do to protect, preserve and enhance our habitat,” said Minister Sherry. “The P.E.I. Environmental Awards allows the opportunity to show our gratitude and recognition to these individuals and organizations each year.”

Nominate an individual, organization or school who plays a role in identifying, reducing, solving or avoiding an environmental problem; who demonstrates consistent responsible environmental management practices; and/or promotes public awareness, understanding and active concern for the enhancement and protection of the environment. Recipients will be chosen by a selection committee composed of members of the Environmental Advisory Council.

“Express your appreciation of those who make our Island a better place to live by nominating them for this year’s Environmental Awards,” Minister Sherry added.

This year’s deadline for nominations is Friday, May 1. For more details and for nomination forms please visit www.gov.pe.ca/environmentalawards or call 902-368-5028.
