James Campbell (1743-1829), born in Perthshire, Scotland, was the son of Alexander Campbell and Mary Cameron Campbell of Locheil, Scotland. Sailing on the ship "Elizabeth" from London, England, James emigrated to Prince Edward Island in 1775 at the age of thirty-two to work as an agent for the firm of Clark and Campbell. James married fellow passenger, Elizabeth Ann Townsend (1755-1829). They purchased land in Lot 21 and helped found the settlement of New London. James and Elizabeth had eight children: Alexander, James, Archibald, George, Caroline, Charlotte, Sarah, and Elizabeth.
Alexander Campbell (1778-1856) married Sarah Urquhart, (?-1842) daughter of the Reverend John Urquhart. Formerly of Maine, the Reverend Urquhart established a Church of Scotland at Princetown and two years later moved to the Miramichi. A merchant and shipbuilder, Alexander became a member of the House of Assembly and in 1828 was appointed to the office of the Treasurer of Prince Edward Island. In 1830 he moved to New Brunswick with his wife Sarah. He died at Dalhousie, New Brunswick, on 29 October 1856. Sarah died at Campbellton, New Brunswick, on 30 September 1842.
Archibald Campbell (1779-1861) married Charity Urquhart, daughter of the Revered John Urquhart, aboard a ship enroute to the United States in 1802. They moved back to Irishtown, Prince Edward Island in 1803 and had ten children: William, David, James, John, Mary, Charity, Eliza, Alexander, Caroline, and Archibald. Their son John married Elizabeth Doddridge and had four children: John, James, Mamie, and Peter Cobley Welsford Campbell. Mamie Campbell married Dr. Peter McNichol and lived in Charlottetown.
