History
Lemuel Vickerson was one of twelve children of Conrad Vickerson (1790-1871) and Jessie Robertson (1804-1874). He was born 20 June 1837 in Marshfield, Prince Edward Island. In 1842 he moved with his family to Hermitage. When Lemuel's brother Henry died in 1864, Lemuel moved to Summerside to take over the operation of his brother's general store. He was the Collector of Excise and Light Duties in Summerside in 1873. Lemuel was active in religious life and the Masonic Mount Lebanon Lodge. He married Harriet Ethelinda Wright (1844-1925) on 1 January 1867 and they had three children: Henry (1867-1924), Martha Strong (1872-1935), and Herbert James (1870-1938). Lemeul died on 28 December 1874, at the age of thirty-six. He and his wife Harriet are buried in the Lower Bedeque Cemetery.
