History
In 1925, a twenty year national movement to join the Methodist, Presbyterian, and Congregationalist churches culminated in the formation of the United Church of Canada. In Prince Edward Island there had been some small movement towards unity since 1920 and in 1925 a little more than half the Presbyterians and virtually all the Methodists joined the new denomination. In 1988 there were 24 pastoral charges encompassing 73 congregations within the United Church in PEI.
