Historique

The St. Peter's South Women's Institute was organized on 22 October 1923 with Mrs. P. J. Power as first president. At the regular monthly meetings, members organized pantry sales, teas, concerts, dances, and other events to raise funds for the local school and library. They purchased supplies and furnishings for the school as well as undertook regular cleaning and maintenance of the building. The members also contributed to various charitable organizations such as the Red Cross, UNICEF, and the Salvation Army. In 1946, the St. Peter's South Women's Institute joined with other Women's Institutes in the area to form the St. Peter's Bay Women's Institute with Mrs. K. E. MacCallum as president.
