Historique
Thomas Robinson was born in 1775 to Joseph Robinson and Mary Smith in New Jersey. Following the American Revolution, Thomas and his Loyalist family went to Nova Scotia, but finding the conditions unsatisfactory, the Robinson family soon came to Prince Edward Island and settled in Charlottetown. On 5 February 1799, Thomas married Eleanor McConnell of West River. The couple had eleven children, including James, Matilda, Maria, William Thomas, Elizabeth Ann, Joseph, Samuel Nelson, Charlotte Amelia, Theophilus DesBrisay, Thomas Wendover and George Frederick. Thomas and Eleanor lived in Charlottetown where he owned a large piece of property known as Brighton Farm. Thomas was involved in his father's blacksmith business and was also very active in the Prince Edward Island Artillery. Thomas died 16 May 1849 at his home, Brighton Lodge, in Charlottetown.
