Biographical history

John Ramsay arrived at Princetown Royalty in Prince Edward Island on the Annabella in 1770 from Cambelltown, Kintyre, Scotland with his wife Margaret Taylor and his sons Donald, John, Neil, Archibald, Angus, and Malcolm and his nephews Malcolm and Edward. His son Neil married Mary Cole Ramsay and their son George married Barbara, daughter of Edward (nephew who came with the original John) and Flora (MacKay) Ramsay. George and Barbara lived in Hamilton, PEI. One of their children, George married a Sophia Murdoch and produced a son George William (Billy R.)who married May E. Wilton from England and lived in St. John, New Brunswick.

Scope and content

The fonds contains arbitration, land and probate records of the Ramsay family from 1817 to 1914. These interactions may involve other Princetown Royalty families such as the Montgomerys and the Owens. Also included are two lists from basket socials presumably held in Lot 18.
