Historique
The Colonial Building in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, was designed and built by Isaac Smith. Construction began in 1843 and the Legislature met in the building for the first time in January 1847. In September 1864, it was the site of the first meeting on Confederation held by delegates from the British North American Colonies. The building was known as the Colonial Building until Prince Edward Island joined Confederation in 1873 when it was renamed Province House.
