Biographical history
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Rifle Association held its inaugural meeting on 22 May 1875 at the Athenaeum in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, at which time Lt. Col. Rankin was elected chairman. The P.E.I. Rifle Association organized local and provincial competitions and raised funds to enable provincial teams to compete on the national level.

Scope and content
The fonds contains two volumes of minutes of general, annual and special meetings of the association. The volumes also contain financial statements in the later years and lists of officers, militia and civilian members. There is a gap in volume one from October 1884 to November 1899. Volume two includes a "Record of Prizes Won" arranged alphabetically by member. The fonds also contains time sheets and lists of competitors from competitions held between 1908 to 1913 and 1919. Included are newspaper clippings and three team photographs from [193-], 1962 and 1963.
