History

The Government House Committee operated as a committee of concerned Prince Edward Island citizens as early as 1969. After the establishment of the Prince Edward Island Museum & Heritage Foundation in 1970, it became a sub-committee of that institution. The mandate of the Committee is to look after the fabric and materials of Government House, in Charlottetown, in a manner sympathetic to its historic past and its present official function. One goal arising from this mandate is to establish a long-term plan for the restoration and renovation of Government House and grounds.
