History

The Prince County Exhibition began as a livestock show promoted by the Elmsdale Farmers Institute in 1926. In January 1927, the Institute passed a resolution to apply for a government grant to hold a local fair and livestock show, and the West Prince Exhibition Association was incorporated in April of the same year. Initially the Exhibition was open only to a limited area in West Prince. It was later extended to include Summerside and before 1940, it was open to all of Prince County.
