Notice biographique
Originally organized as the Free Church Congregation at Murray Harbour, the Murray Harbour Church became part of the Presbyterian Church in Canada following union with other Presbyterian bodies in 1874. As early as 1841, Murray Harbour and Three Rivers were petitioning the Presbytery for a clergyman to divide his services between the two communities. In July 1856, Wood Islands was laying claim to the baptismal register indicating some connection between the two churches in the early years. Later in the same year it was decided that the fortnightly preaching at White Sands be discontinued. From that time until 1891 the Congregation comprised both Murray Harbour North and Murray Harbour South with meetings of session being held alternatively in both communities. In response to a petition of Murray Harbour South on 5 September 1891, the Presbytery reconstructed the field covered by Murray Harbour and Woodville (Wood Islands) into two congregations, that of Murray Harbour South and Little Sands, and of Murray Harbour North and Peter's Road. The congregation was drawn from the communities of Murray Harbour (South and North), Peter's Road, Gaspereaux, White Sands, Cambridge, Greek River, etc.

Présentation du contenu
The fonds contains baptism and marriage records from 1851 to 1914 along with a communion roll from the same period and the minutes of session from 1855 to1892. These have been divided into two series: Vital statistics records and Minutes of session. Although the latter occupy the same book as the early vital statistics records they have been filmed separately as they are restricted due to the personal nature of some of the entries.
