History

The Murray Harbour Church of Christ was established in Murray Harbour, Prince Edward Island, as a result of a meeting held at the house of Silas Sensabaugh on 15 April 1899. Interested parishioners agreed on the need to erect a church "for the worship of the living God and the early teachings of the Apostles." Land was purchased from Vere Penny and construction began later that year. The congregation did not have a full-time minister until 1965 with Montague ministers or student ministers conducting services in the interim. A manse was purchased in Murray Harbour in 1964 and a Baptistery was built on the north end of the building in 1964.
