Histoire administrative
The Meteorological Service of Canada maintained an observation station in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, at least between 1873 and 1886. It's exact location is unknown. Weather observers documented daily changes in weather, recorded storm activities, created abstracts of their observations, and sent weekly telegram or post card summaries to the Magnetic Observatory, in Toronto, Ontario. The station in Charlottetown appears to have been operated by Henry J. Cundall between 1873 and 1874 while an individual with the initials M. R. recorded observations between 1875 and 1880. It is unknown who oversaw the station until 1886.

This fonds consists of 17 volumes recording weather observations made at the Meteorological Service of Canada station in Charlottetown between 1873 and 1886. Included are five types of record books: record of weather postcards/telegrams; registers/reports of meteorological observations; abstracts of observations; direction and velocity of the winds records, and storm registers. They include such information as the date and time of the observation, the direction and speed of the wind, the amount of precipitation, the temperature and barometer readings, and the position of the clouds. These volumes are arranged by type and in chronological order. Volumes 5 and 6 were kept by Henry J. Cundall and volumes 7-9 by M. R. It is uncertain who kept the remaining records.
