History

The law firm of McLean and McKinnon was an institution of long-standing in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Angus A. McLean practiced law as early as 1880 in Charlottetown when the firm was known as McLean and Martin. After several changes in name and partnerships, it became McLean & McKinnon between 1900 and 1904 when McLean went into partnership with a young lawyer, Donald McKinnon. This firm took over many files formerly handled originally by Edward Bayfield and then by the firm of Bayfield and Blanchard including Bayfield, Freeland, Peters and Poole estate papers. The firm continued under the name McLean & McKinnon until at least 1950 although, by that time, the partnership consisted of Donald and Malcolm McKinnon.
