Annie "Kathlee" Ready was born 25 February 1911 and became a teacher in Summerside and rural Prince Edward Island. She was educated at Kensington School, where she was recipient of the Governor General's Medal. Kathleen pursued her secondary education at Prince of Wales College. She moved to Summerside after her marriage to J. Harold MacIver in 1941. After her husband's death in 1950, Kathleen also worked as an insurance salesperson. She taught catechism at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Summerside. She was also very involved in the Summerside Christian Council, Kinette Club, Speak-Easy/Toast-Masters Club and the Ladies Division of the Provincial Curling Club. Kathleen died 11 December 2007.

Kathleen's parents, James A. Ready (1871-1937) and Annie M. Mullin (1876-1931; daughter of John T. Mullin of Kensington), were married on 21 June 1904. James graduated as valedictorian from Prince of Wales College in 1897. James taught Sciences at the University while he was a student. He went on to teach public school in Irishtown, became principal of Kensington School, and served as editor of the "Summerside Journal" and "The Agriculturalist" newspapers. James and Annie Ready's children were Mary, Arthur, Kathleen and Joseph. Another daughter, Angelina Millicent, died in infancy.

Kathleen's sister, Mary Ready, was born on 21 March 1906. Educated at Kensington School, Miscouche Convent, Notre Dame Convent and Prince of Wales College, she taught school in Northam, Cumberland, and Kensington. Mary also taught piano lessons, and performed for public entertainment, including silent movies. She played hockey with the Granite Sisters of Kensington. Mary was a registered nurse who trained at the Halifax Infirmary. Mary served as a Victorian Order nurse, worked as a private nurse in Halifax and Montreal, and managed a seniors' home in Montreal. She retired to Kensington in the 1970s and continued to be active in her church and community. She became especially involved in the Senior Citizen's Federation. Mary Margaret Ready, R.N., died 11 September 1992 at Prince County Hospital.

Kathleen's older brother, Arthur Ready, was born 11 July 1908. He was educated at Kensington High School, Prince of Wales College and St. Dunstan's University. After studying to become an electrician at a trade school in Chicago, Illinois, Arthur Ready later set up his own business in Kensington. He died in Indian River on 31 January 1987.

Kathleen's younger brother, Joseph Dougald Ready, was born on 11 August 1914 in Kensington, Prince Edward Island. He received his primary education at Kensington School, and pursued his secondary education at St. Dunstan's University in Charlottetown where he graduated with a B.A. degree. He then attended St. Mary's College in Brockville, Ontario for one year. While at university, Joseph was active in sports and played baseball, football, and hockey. While in England with the Royal Air Force (R.A.F.), he also played on a Canadian hockey team. Joseph was a substitute teacher at Margate and Kensington schools in between university semesters. He moved to England and joined the R.A.F. two months before the outbreak of World War II. Joseph was in active service in the Coastal Command and was on patrol during the evacuation of Dunkirk. He was due to be promoted to Flying Officer at the time of his death. Joseph died in an aircraft accident on 8 April 1941. In the event of his death, he had arranged for a letter to be delivered to his siblings. Joseph was buried in Cherry Hinton Cemetery, Cambridge, England.
