History

Born at Kelly's Cross, Prince Edward Island, in 1864, Dr. James E. McDonald, V.S. graduated from the Ontario College of Veterinary Surgery in 1890. Shortly after that he opened a combined drug store and veterinary stable in Summerside, PEI, at the corner of Water and Granville Streets. Following Dr. McDonald's death in 1910, the firm was taken over by his brother Charles. The McDonald Drug Store seems not to have survived the sudden death of Charles in February of 1919.
