Percy MacNevin was born 23 August 1885, the eldest of four sons and one daughter born to Neil McNevin, shoemaker, of DeSable and his wife, Sarah Grace Smith. Col.MacNevin was a member of the Second Siege Battery and went overseas in the First World War with his unit in 1915. He was with the Battery through many of the hardest artillery battles of the war. While holding the rank of Sergeant he won the Distinguished Conduct Medal, one of the highest decorations an enlisted man may win. After the war he married Eleanor Bourke of Charlottetown and was employed as a master mechanic with the Canadian National Railway. He also served as vice-president of the Canadian Artillery Association. Lt. Col. MacNevin died 10 December 1953 in Charlottetown at the age of 68
