Historique

The Victoria No.2 Lodge was the 3rd lodge of the fraternal organization of Freemasons to be formed in Charlottetown. It was founded in 1857 under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Scotland and incorporated in 1862. John William Morrison served as the first Right Worshipful Master, with Albert H. Yates as Senior Warden, and James Romans as Junior Warden. Initially they met in premises rented from St. John's Lodge, a fellow group of Charlottetown Freemasons with which they shared a close association. They met on the 4th Tuesday of each month in the Masonic Hall on Water Street. Their officers were installed on St. Andrew's Day (November 30) each year. On the 21st of March 1895 the Most Worshipful Thomas A. MacLean, grand master, conducted a dedication ceremony for the Victoria Lodge Room at the Masonic Temple.
