History

Allan Finlayson was born on 14 April 1842 in Belfast, PEI, the son of Angus and Catherine (McDonald) Finlayson. He was married on 14 November 1872 to Annie Forbes with whom he had at least nine children. A master mariner, Captain Finlayson served on many vessels including the Northern Light, the Stanley and the Minto, three of the early mail steamers. He left the marine service in 1920 and died on 31 July 1928.
