History

The Diocesan Church Society was founded in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, in 1840 and was incorporated in 1852. In 1842 the Society began to seek lands from the proporitors in England and lands secured were placed in the trust of the Society for the Propogation of the Gospel. The Society through its own efforts and with other Societies in England raised funds for the erection of churches, the securing of clergy and the raising of funds for stipends and other expenses. The Society was still in existance in 1991.
