Historique
The Cornwall-York Point Women's Institue of Prince Edward Island was organized on 7 April 1913. The first president was Mrs. George MacDonald and the Secretary/Treasurer was Miss. Emma MacMillan. The Institute was very active within the community. The women of the Institute took over the management of the Cornwarll hall, were a driving force within the local schools, visited the sick and shut-ins, and participated in charity work for the Red Cross, the Cancer Fund, and war work. On 21 February 1955 the decision was made that after forty-two years of unity, the Cornwall-York Point Women's Institute would divide and a separate York Point Institute would be established. After this time, the Cornwall Women's Institute continued its work within the community.
