History

John Philip Collins was appointed Colonial Secretary of Prince Edward Island in 1829, a position he held for ten years. Collins was also appointed a Commissioner of the Peace (1829), the Register of Deeds (1830), a Judge (1834), and Clerk of the Assembly (1839). John married Juliana Young on 24 September 1833. They had two children, Sarah Ann (1835-?), and Philip Bayfield (1839-1939). John Collins died on 29 November 1839, at the age of 34 years and is buried in the Elm Avenue Cemetery in Charlottetown.
