History

Mildred Laird was born 17 February 1900 to Bowley and Tillie (Boulter) Laird of Tryon, Prince Edward Island. On the 7 May 1924, Mildred Laird married Spurgeon Clark; they had a daughter, Myrtle. Upon the death of her husband, Mildred Clark sold the farm portion of their Tryon homestead in 1949. Mrs. Clark retained the house and lived there until 1975, when ill health prevented her continuing her work caring for elderly people. Mildred Clark was an accomplished seamstress and taught 4-H sewing for many years. She was a loyal member of the Tryon Baptist Church, and was interested in community history and genealogy. In later years, Mildred Clark resided at Somerset Manor, Summerside, and she died at Prince County Hospital on 2 April 1988.
