Historique

Arthur Major Clark was born in Cape Traverse on 25 July, 1908, the eldest son of Nina and Russell Clark. He graduated from the Prince of Wales College and taught school for one year in Augustine Cove. He moved on to employment with the Bank of Nova Scotia in Albany. While at the bank, he married Muriel Bradshaw of Augustine Cove. Arthur and Muriel moved to Charlottetown where he worked for Carvell Brothers between 1931 and 1941.

In 1941, Mr. Clark became one of the original employees of the Maritime Central Airways and remained with the Company, serving as secretary treasurer until it was sold to the Newfoundland government in 1963. At that time, Maritime Central Airways became Eastern Provincial Airways. Mr. Clark worked with Curran and Briggs in Newfoundland and then for Thane Ellis a potato wholesaler until 1966. In 1966, he moved to Ottawa to work with Laurentian Air Services and remained with them until his retirement in 1970. In 1974, Mr. and Mrs. Clark returned to Charlottetown. Arthur suffered a stroke while on vacation in Florida. He recovered, but passed away in 1986, leaving his wife and their eight children. Arthur Clark is buried at Searletown United Church Cemetery.
