Historique
The Chisholm and Son Furniture Manufacturers and Undertakers was established in North West Tryon, Prince Edward Island, in 1893 by William Chisholm and his son James. Previous to that date William, who was originally from Sunny Brae, Nova Scotia, operated the Morrison and Chisholm Factory with Alexander Morrison.
Chisholm and Sons manufactured household furniture and caskets which they delivered throughout the Island by horse and wagon. James continued to operate the business after Williams' death in 1916 but produced only small household items. The furniture part of the business ended in 1942 although James operated the Chisholm Funeral Home until his death in 1977.
