History

The Central School for Nursing Assistants was established in 1960 to provide the educational preparation for individuals wishing to be licensed as nursing assistants on Prince Edward Island under the "Act to provide for the training, licensing and practice of nursing auxiliary personnel" (1952, c.32,s.1). It was administered by the PEI Department of Health until 1978 when administration was transferred to the PEI School of Nursing. With the closure of the PEI School of Nursing in July 1994, the Central School also ceased operation.
