Administrative history
Henry Wadman owned and operated Canfield's Store in Crapaud from 1865 until 1881, when he passed the store onto his son. Oliver Benjamin Wadman operated the store until 1918, when his daughter Winifred took over. Canfield’s Store changed owners and locations several times in its history. It is unclear when the business ceased operation.

This unidentified ledger is for a store in the Crapaud, Prince Edward Island, area, possibly Canfield's Store, and the ledger covers the years 1879 to 1881. The ledger entries list the customers' names, their community, what they purchased, and the transaction amount. Some entries also list the occupation of the customer. A variety of items were sold at the store, including household and hardware items, groceries, clothing and sewing materials. Most of the patrons of this store came from Crapaud (Lot 29) and surrounding areas, including Desable, Tryon, Victoria, Westmoreland, Rose Valley, Hampton, Augustine Cove, Cape Traverse, Carleton, Albany, Springton, Bonshaw, Melville Road, and Appin Road (Lots 21, 26, 27, 28, 30, 67). It also listed patrons from Charlottetown (Lot 33) and Hunter River (Lot 23).
