Arthur Byron Burns was born in 1914, the son of Arthur M. Burns and Eliza Campbell. His sister Thelma (1908-1914) played the piano at the movie theatre in Charlottetown.The family occupied the house at 199 Dorchester until April of 1919 when they moved to 168 Weymouth Street. Both houses are still standing although renovations have taken place. Arthur M. Burns worked for the railway in Prince Edward Island from 1897 to 1934. Byron was a prominent citizen of Charlottetown where he operated a jewellery store on Great George Street, now University Avenue. He maintained an avid interest in the social and cultural life of his Province and in the Charlottetown and Murray Harbour areas in particular, collecting photographs and other memorabilia related to business and social customs and events. He was especially fascinated by the railway about which he published a book entitled "The Narrow guage steam railroad on Prince Edward Island". Mr. Burns was married to Helen Costello and had two children, Suzanne and Arthur Robert. He died on 10 November 1996.
