History

William Buchanan was born in 1800. He became a tenant farmer at Ardcheanochrochan in the Trossachs district of Perthshire. He also served as a land agent for the extensive holdings of David and Robert Stewart in this area. He also was apparently recruiting for the Stewarts for persons to emigrate to Prince Edward Island where they also had extensive land holdings. For his services he was awarded 100 acres in Prnce Edward Island which he never took up. He died in 1874.
