Historique
The Bideford Pastoral Charge had its beginnings with the Methodist Church on Prince Edward Island. In 1875 this pastoral charge was known as the Egmont Circuit and trustees met quarterly at Muddy Creek/Fifteen Point. Rev. Henry Penna was preacher of the Egmont Circuit in 1876/1877 serving the following areas: Fifteen Point, Sheep River, Lot 16, Enmore River, Bideford and surrounding communities. By 1906, the pastoral charge was known as the Bideford Circuit of the Summerside District of the New Brunswick and P.E.I. Conference. In 1925, the year of church union, the Bideford Circuit joined the United Church of Canada. Its congregations included Wellington, Union Corner, and Victoria West. These churches were later reorganized to form a separate charge known as the Wellington Charge. In 1926, the Bideford Pastoral Charge included the congregations of Bideford, Tyne Valley, Conway and Lot 14.
