Historique
Edward Bayfield (1847- ?) was the second son of Admiral Henry Wolsey Bayfield. He became a lawyer in private practice in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island in 1872. Bayfield's sister, Fanny Gertrude Mary was married in 1869 to Russell George Freeland, an English military officer who later acquired property in Charlottetown and elsewhere in the province. On the death of Admiral Bayfield, a number of property-based trusts were established involving members of the Bayfield and Freeland families. Edward Bayfield moved to British Columbia sometime before 1920. Bayfield's law practice, including the administration of estates, was subsequently taken over by McLean and MacKinnon.
