Original Charlottetown Camera Club 1967 description:
"The Railway. In 1871, a bill was passed in the Assembly authorizing construction of a railway from Georgetown to Cascumpec. However, the debt in building the railway incurred forced the Island to join the Dominion. [In] the terms of the Union, the Dominion government assumed the ownership, operation, and maintenance of a 200 mile railway system. The locomotive shown here is one of the earliest used. The stack in the front indicates that it had been used as a wood burner."
